WELCOME TO SS PETER AND PAUL

IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE

The Archbishop has asked for our consideration about future provision of churches and parishes in each area of the archdiocese, and to know our views and ideas.

The lockdown and the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic has called for a hard look at the priorities in our Pastoral Area and throughout the archdiocese as a whole.

Financial challenges will have to be met, availability of voluntary help may not be what it was Church goers will be fewer in number due to age or health in some areas, the number of serving clergy will continue to decrease, and so on.

As part of the process of reflection and change called for by Synod 2020 we need to be Prepared for the future as far as possible and consider what reductions and rationalisation of building and resources may be necessary.

Cardinal Saint John Henry Newman was once asked what he thought about the Laity.

He replied ‘The Church would look very silly without them’ Your views, along with those of the local clergy, are crucial.

Time for responses is short, so please let me know what you think.

Look at the Pastoral Area as a whole from Formby to Seaforth in your considerations.

Pray about this and think how we might continue to be a strong and committed Faith Community in our Pastoral Area in the future, whilst being a different Church in light of some essential changes.

Parish Priest and Dean of Crosby

Link for Mass

This parish has a long and illustrious history and many generations have worshipped here over the 120 years of its existence.

The Church is well-known and loved. A fuller history of the church and its artifacts can be found in a pamphlet written by Monsignor John Furnival the current parish priest. Today it continues to draw large numbers to Sunday mass, baptisms, weddings and, naturally, funerals, in the course of the year.

You can access Mass times and information about the church and parish and also to the weekly newsletter. Links can be found to other local churches in the area, Pastoral Area activities and ecumenical partnership.

We hope you will find the information interesting and helpful and we would ask you to let others know of the existence of this website
